The Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission Strategic Plan will serve as a compass for the departments next phase of development and service as it continues to provide high quality natural resources and recreational opportunities to residents and visitors of Ottawa County.

2026 Parks, Recreation, & Open Space Plan

Ottawa County residents and park visitors helped build and guide this plan by completing surveys and directing suggestions to the Parks & Recreation Commission. This plan is updated every five years to maintain eligibility for State of Michigan grant funding and to guide the future development of parks, trails, and recreational facilities in our community. 2025 Rosy Mound Expansion Plan

Following analysis of the 127-acre Rosy Mound expansion site, three concept plans were shared for public input. Over 1,500 survey responses and feedback from an open house shaped the final master plan, with strong community support for preserving natural habitat, expanding trails, and adding parking.

2024 Annual Report

The past year has been a transformative one for Ottawa County Parks and Recreation. Key highlights include a comprehensive strategic planning process and the launch of new recreation software. Several exciting projects were completed, such as major renovations at Kirk Park and both recreational and ecological enhancements at Ottawa Sands. Significant progress was also made on the Stearns Connector segment of the Idema Explorers Trail and the expansion of Rosy Mound Natural Area.
